I just finished setting up my server at the house.  The main reason I set it up was to make sure my music folder was backed up.  My collection is getting a little large and sometimes your RAID will fail.  However, I hate manually syncing up the folder with the server every time I add stuff.  Well I found this great little piece of freeware mentioned in this article.

Ok folks, I’ve now seen way too many pictures of myself to deny that I’m fat. At 250lbs. My knees are telling me to put the Twinkie down. So, mostly to make my knees happy (and my ego),  I joined Weight Watchers.  I’m now 4 weeks in and 11 pounds down.  The system is easy to follow as long as you are honest with yourself and decent about keeping promises with yourself.  I’ll keep you folk updated as to my progress in the weeks to come.

What a difference between this past year and 2006. Better job, more time with the spouse, and more time to get back into my hobbies.  I bought a new bike.  I really needed to my old one was a ‘91 Peugeot.  It had just seen its day.  So now I ride a nice LeMond etape.  It’s a great bike.  I ride it to work when it isn’t raining or too cold.  Lately that’s been about 3 days a week.  I’m in the first week of training for a short race in August.  I’ll post about that soon.  If I make it, I expect to see some of you at the finish line.

Babies?  Well we’ll go over that in a later post.

This is a test post from , a fancy photo sharing thing.

It’s been a good year.  I hope yours was as well.  I’m hoping to get the podcast running again in 2008.  I need to get the new studio up in the new building.

Also in 2008 I plan on participating in a sprint triathlon.  Training starts tomorrow.  Wish me luck.

My goal is to read a bunch more.  Fiction and business books.  We’ll see how I do.

I’m reading this book on blogging by Robert Bly.  I’m 3/4 through the book and I haven’t really learned anything except that he writes like a typical copywriter.  I’m not saying if it’s good or bad till I’m done and can formulate an opinion.  In the meantime, I’ll comment on something he said in the book.  He repeatedly says that most people can’t write or communicate effectively with others.  I disagree with this.  I think people aren’t as practiced as he.  If everyone was paid to write then they would improve.  I’m not saying everyone would turn into Stephen King but they would improve to where they could put nouns together with verbs.

A while ago I wrote a post about an Apple 16/600 printer and Windows Vista.  I figured it would get a few posts and I’m seeing now that its my most popular post.  Made me think that I should post more about my admin work.  I don’t do much admin work anymore but the stuff I do tends to be those problems that most folk won’t try to figure out.  So look for more Computer Crap from me in the days to come.

Last, I’m ill at the fact that the Britney Spears/K-Fed custody battle made it onto GMA this morning.  Don’t get me wrong, I know that GMA is fluff.  I just like my serious news all fluffy.  Not my fluffy news all serious.   Damnit Robin,  talk about your breast cancer some more.  That’s news to me.

If Diesel cars will run on peanut oil why don’t we design more cars to do that?  I mean you can grow more peanuts.  You can’t grow more petroleum.  I’d like a car that runs on peanut oil.  In fact, I’m looking to replace betsy.  When I do, I should buy a diesel.  Lets see if I can find one to buy.

That will mark 3 years for the Gnome.  It’s gone through plenty of transformation over teh years and has racked up plenty of hits.  However, I’m not sure I’m going to renew the domain another year.  I’m thinking I could use the extra $20 to start a new site.  YOu folks let me know what you think.  If you want it I’ll keep it.  Otherwise, I’m going to go in a different direction.
